A Netherlandish inlaid chest-of-drawers

Mahogany, palisander, rosewood, and satinwood veneers with gilt copper mountings and a (possibly later) grey marble top. With four drawers in two rows. Of bulbous, cuvilinear form with serpentine angles and supports. The front decorated with fine diaper-shaped inlays and with two large diaper motifs to the sides. Mounted to drawers, angles and sides with openwork rocaille fittings and two bands of brass to the horizontal mouldings. Earlier insect damage, restored warped veneer to one side, one small part of the veneer to the reverse lacking, a minor loss to one handle plate in the upper right. H 87.5, W 133, D ca. 71 cm.
