A Hanau parcel gilt silver replica of the "Goslar Bergkanne"

The waisted, gadrooned body resting on a gadrooned foot. Decorated to the centre with 12 half-figure depictions of musicians, the handle formed as a fire-breathing dragon. The lid decorated with a gothic tower containing a nesting bird, the finial formed as a figure of St. Christopher with the Christ Child on a sphere. Inscribed to the underside "66/69". H 88 cm, weight 5,350 g.
Marks of Firma Neresheimer, ca. 1900.

This piece is one of four published replicas of the famous Goslar miners' pitcher from 1477, kept in the Goslar Museum. Most of the replicas - made by the Neresheim company in Hanau - vary slightly from the original in details. One of them is now kept in the Bergbaumuseum in Bochum.
