A large ivory tsuba. Late 19th century

A large ivory tsuba of oval shape, carved with rakan Handaka Sonja seated on a dragon amidst waves, in his hand an alms bowl with smoke rising from it, on the reverse a lotus pond, the flower and bud of mother-of-pearl. Signed Buyô jû Nankoku saku. Late 19th century.
