A silver-mounted milk glass tankard
A cylindrical glass stein decorated with flowerheads and a gentleman. The silver with biblical scenes in reserves. Engraved "Catharina Dorotea Sassen", and dated 1780. With a small chip beside the handle base. H 23.5 cm.
Lübeck, Jochim Christoph Flöth, ca. 1770 - 80. The glass presumably Saxony-Meiningen, decorated by a member of the Greiner family.
Catharina Dorothea Sassen married Johann Martin Engelken in Ückermünde circa 1780, and this tankard may have been a wedding present from her godfather.
