A rare etched iron Renaissance casket

Of cylindrical form comprising seven decorated segments, two of which gilt. The upper, hinged segment forming the lid. The front, the back and the lid depicting bucolic scenes. Two nereids to the sides. With later textile/velvet lining. One side slightly loose. H 7.9, W 9.5, D 7.9 cm.
France or South Germany, ca. 1600.
