A carved wooden figure of Saint James, probably Alpine, 2nd half 15th century

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened. Partially overpainted older polychromy. A standing, full-figure depiction of the pilgrim saint with his attribute, the scallop shell, embellishing his hat, and a book in his left hand. He presumably originally held a pilgrim's staff in his right hand.
The right hand and toes lost. A vertical crack to the back of the head, restorations and additions to the hat brim, insect damage. Height 47 cm.
