A Mechelen wooden Anna Selbdritt group, circa 1500

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened. With older polychromy. A standing figure of Saint Anne dressed in a matronly gown and holding the diminutive Virgin Mary with her right arm. On her lap, Mary holds the infant Christ who has turned to gaze into the open book in Saint Anne's left hand.
Loosely mounted to a presumably original moulded plinth. With minimal wear. Height 27 cm (with base).
