Mountain landscape
c. 1900

Multiple gum dichromate print. 25.2 x 35 cm. Inscribed by Heinrich Kühn in pencil on the verso. - The print slightly irregularly trimmed along the edges, slightly bumped here and there. The upper right corner with some small losses..

This gum dichromate print originates from the collection of Heinrich Kühn and was one of an assorted lot of works offered in the special auction "Heinrich Kühn. Sixty photographs". The motif was published in 'Camera Work' magazine in 1906. Kühn's detailed notes in pencil on the back of the work reveal that the piece was intended as the printing template for this reproduction. Hans Watzek, a close friend of Kühn, died in 1903. Together with Hugo Henneberg, the three formed the 'Trifolium' group, founded in 1897. The three photographers developed the multi-layered gum dichromate print, and later the tri-colour version.
