Gouache on ivory portrait of the King in a red uniform with a white jabot. In a gilt metal frame. Examined in the frame. 4.3 x 3.1 cm (incl. frame).

Ferdinand VII (1784 San Ildefonso - 1833 Madrid) became King of Spain for just a few weeks in 1808 following his father's abdication, before Napoleon pressured him into returning the crown. Napoleon finally appointed Ferdinand as King of Spain permanently in 1814. His rule was characterised by Absolutist tendencies.
