A Roman marble torso of a young man

Male figure carved in the round, lacking the head, arms, calves, and phallus. Originally depicted standing in contrapposto, now mounted to a marble base via a metal pole. Broken at the hips and restuck, filled areas over losses to the reverse. H ca. 60, with base ca. 71 cm.
Late 1st C. A.D.

Auctioned by Gorny & Mosch on 12th December 2006, lot 3.
According to the auction catalogue, the piece originates from the collection of H. Röpp, which was sold in the 1930s.
Subsequently in the possession of an architect in Zeulenroda.
