A Mechelen carved wooden figure of the Christ Child Blessing, circa 1500/1510

Carved in the round and partially freestanding. With older, presumably mainly original, polychromy. The area around the plinth overpainted. A depiction of the nude Christ Child standing in contrapposto on a moulded plinth, holding a globe and with His right hand raised in blessing. A characteristic and finely worked example of the Mechelen School in an unusual format.
Very minimal wear. Height 66 cm.
