'in each of the 6 watercolours in this portfolio, it takes on a different colour, continuously around the 6-part colour circle, to spatially activate the neutral surrounding grey surface. each colour is assigned a different spatial location, a different size and form and different directional activity by the artist. the fluctuation of these impact factors from image to image within the sequence is continuous. however, it is typical for calderara that he creates the colour quality of his images not by objective quantity ratios, but by intuitive-safe placing. he has achieved an inner gauge, which gives him a quasi absolute certainty.'
