A Tibetan black lacquered and gilt wooden figure of a Sakya lama, probably Kunga Gyaltsen (1182-1251). 15th/16th century

Kunga Gyaltsen, also called Sakya Pandita, the fourth of the five Sakya forefathers, seated in dhyanasana on a double-lotus base, with his hands in dharmachakra mudra, wearing monastic robes and a lama hat with long lappets, both richly painted with golden pattern. The base with a painted double-vajra. Lotus blossoms at the shoulders missing. Crack.
