A very fine and rare Kyoto school ivory netsuke of Kan’u on horseback, by Masatada. Late 18th century

The Chinese general sits on a saddled and grazing horse holding the horse’s reigns in his left hand and his halberd named “Blue Dragon” in his right, while a wind-swept sleeve enwraps the halberd’s pole with only the tip visible at the top. Signed Masatada in an oval reserve.
