A 14k gold brooch with a vinaigrette

Convex disc with shaped rim and a finely granulated fries of flowers, birds, and butterflies set with a coral cabochon (corallium rubrum, diameter ca. 21.5 mm), the flared rim with stylised filigree decor. The reverse designed to hold perfume, with a pierced removable cover. Stamped: Fineness 585, maker's mark, dated 1949. A hairline crack to the coral. Diameter 5.3 cm. Weight 41.3 g.
