An East German court writing cabinet

Palisander, rosewood, and mahogany veneers, ormolu mountings and cast iron hinges. Comprising a five-drawer lower section with kneehole below a slanted writing surface with drawers and compartments. The upper section with two doors concealing nine drawers and vertical compartment. Four carrying handles to the sides. Fine parquetry throughout. Some losses to the veneer, two of the inner drawers and some of the ormolu mountings lacking. In need of restoration. H 219, W 102, D 54.5 cm.
