A late 15th century carved wooden figure of Mary Magdalene, probably Central Rhine Region

Carved in the round. With partially overpainted older polychromy. A standing figure of the Saint leaning slightly to the left, holding an ointment jar before her with both hands. The composition of the figure is characterised by the busy arrangement of folds in the cloak, which contrasts sharply with the simple vertical pleats of the gown.
Vertical hairline cracks to the face and left wrist, a larger crack to the right of the plinth. Overall wear. Height 56 cm.
