A saya-Inro. Mid-19th century

Signed: Shoshonshi saku
An excellent work from the Shibayama school. The inner compartment for sliding with upper and lower side made of very nice, extremely dense and finely scattered kinji, giving the appearance of a polished surface of gold foil. Inside, on a dense Nashiji background with larger gold particles, a large golden moon disk, stretching over one edge and approached from both sides by a Kolk raven of finely engraved black lacquer. The surface of the case covered with kinji of the same quality. The front decorated in takamakie with the happily dancing god of luck Daikoku with a rod, which he holds over his head with both hands like a sword blade. At its end - visible on the back - a flying fish with an eboshi of black wood with a red moon on its head. With the tips of his fins, the fish holds an open folding fan and a ring rattle, with two laughing boys seated in front.
Height 9.5 cm; height ojime 9.5 cm
