Signed in Kinji: Keigai
With separate cord runners. Bright kinji ground with okibirame and gyobu reliefs of waves, spray and clouds. The god of luck Ebisu in flowing, belted robes with varuiously coloured mother-of-pearl, seated on a rock and casting his rod, on which a big carp already hangs. ON the reverse a pair of wild geese beneath clouds flying over the choppy lake. The robes of the god, the carp and the geese partly with white and coloured mother-of-pearl, very finely and detailed carved and engraved, the god’s characteristic hat of black stone, the face, arms and feet of finely engraved ivory. Nashiji to the inside. Ojime of brown-black, marbled stone.
