A Sorgenthal porcelain cup in the Egyptian taste

Bell-shaped cup with coiled snake handle and original saucer. The round medallion inscribed KANOPVS, the well of the saucer with a depiction of Diana, cartouches with pseudo-hieroglyphs. The rims bordered with stylised flowerheads on brown ground. Blue bindenschild mark, year stamp 802, potter's no. 39 (saucer), and 96 (cup).
Vienna, Sorgenthal manufactory, fired in 1802 and painted shortly after.

Purchased in 2004 from Ulrich Gronert.
