A Bern silver medallion commemorating Friedrich II's victories in the Silesian Wars

Avers a portrait of Friedrich II, reverse a depiction of a seated genius reading a book resting on a cowering figure of Chronos. Containing a cycle of 38 mainly double-sided engravings depicting battles from the Silesian Wars with a legend glued to the inside of the lid. The glue of two engravings loosend, one engraving one-sided, otherwise in excellent condition. D 5 cm, weight when empty 24 g.
The medallion Bern silver, marks of Johann Melchior Mörikofer, 1759, sold by Jakob Langenbucher, Augsburg, the engravings Augsburg, Bartholomäus Hübner after drawings by G. Eichler, circa 1763.
