A rare Sèvres porcelain dessert plate from the "fond beau bleu figures en brun" service

"Assiette plate" model. The well painted with a figure of a Muse with a kithara in faux bronze on a grey mottled ground in imitation of stone. The border with alternating palmettes and acanthus on blue ground. Incised marks. D 23.7 cm.
Circa 1808.

The "de dessert fond beau bleu figures en brun rehaussée en or sur fond caillouté" service included 78 plates and numerous other pieces. It was put up for sale on 9th March 1808 but remained unsold until December 1826 when the manufactory offered it at auction.
