A gold filigree pectoral pendant

Designed as an oval 18k gold plaque with finely wrought scrolling filigree rosettes in 24k gold. Symmetrically set with an oval Ceylon sapphire cabochon (ca. 13 x 11 x 6 mm) and four cultured pearls (diameter ca. 5 mm) in curved bezel settings, the edges with beaded decor. Hallmarks: Fineness 750, maker's mark "FZ". Total H 5.7 cm. Weight 23.51 g.
Peter Bolg, Cologne 1965.

This piece was specially made for the wife of the former Cologne cathedral jeweller Fritz Zehgruber. Since Peter Bolg worked in his studio at the time, the piece bears this master's signature.
