A dated Grassmayr mortar with a lion's head

Golden brown cast bronze with slightly mottled brown patina. Cast with a series of motifs to the centre: A stylised rose, mascarons, a lion's head, and grotesque figures surrounding the date "1656". With one angular facetted handle. H 16, D 18.5 cm. Weight 3.9 kg.
