A Swiss mortar with caryatids

Cast bronze with slightly mottled brown patina. Cast with a narrow arabesque frieze to the lower section and four acanthus leaves beneath the protruding rim. The handles formed as two half-figure caryatids. H 14, D 16.3 cm. Weight 4.2 kg. Including a presumably original iron pestle.
Switzerland, Fribourg, attributed to Jakob Kugler, early 17th C.
