A tiger claws and gold brooch. India. Around 1870/1880

Two flat tiger claws held together by a gold band with a tiger head in relief and a pendant tiger claw mounted in gold. The pin of silver.
Max. width 7.1 cm

It seems to have been fashionable in the 1870s for tiger's claws to be set in jewelry to commemorate hunting trips. Much of the goldsmith work was carried out in Calcutta.
