Indian souvenir jewellery with tiger claws

Finely pierced gold filigree and copper jewellery comprising a brooch with a fringe pendant and a pair of pendant earrings. The brooch with two tiger claws flanking an eagle in relief, the earrings each with one claw suspended from a rosette form stud. Both pieces presented in a presumably Chinese carved ivory box lined with purple silk. L brooch 7.5 cm. H earrings 4 cm. Box 3 x 12 x 8 cm.

Tiger claw jewellery was particularly popular during the British Colonial reign of India under Queen Victoria (the so-called Raj period). It was made especially for English travellers as a typical Indian souvenir.
