An important Bremen Renaissance silver tankard

The rounded basal rim decorated with cherub's heads amid scrollwork and fruit garlands. The cylindrical corpus with corresponding engraved scrollwork and strapwork decor and a fries of cherub's heads to the lower edge. The auriform handles with herms in relief. The domed hinged lid echoes the decor of the basal rim. Gadrooned finial and ornate thumb rest with figures in niches. Engraved to the underside with a house mark. H 23.5 cm, weight 858 g.
