A large tin goblet made for the Plau guild of smiths and locksmiths

Round domed base and short shaft, the cylindrical body rounded in the lower section and decorated with six lion mascarons. Engraved with the dedication "Der Schmiede und Schlosser Gesellen Wilckom / J. F. Peters / J. C. Berlien" and with the large guild mark with a foliate crown and laurels. The domed slip lid with corresponding decor, the final formed as a large figure of a locksmith, the key presumably replaced. H 56 cm, weight 3,195 g.
Plau am See, indistinct maker's marks of Joachim Christian Hensky, ca. 1780 - 90.

Johann Friedrich Peters was born in Malchow close to Plau am See in 1759, Johann Christian Berlien was married in Gressow in 1786.
