An enamelled gold pendant with the IHS monogram, probably South German, second half 16th century

Cast and engraved gold with enamel and pearls. Delicate quatrefoil pendant with the "IHS" monogram to the centre above a stylised lily issuing from a tiny heart. The polychrome enamel creates an elegant contrast to the gold surround, which is further accentuated by the white of the pearls suspended from the pendant and set into the spandrels.
Minor losses to the enamel, otherwise in perfect condition. 4.7 x 3.1 cm.
