Probably South German first half 17th century

An enamelled gold pendant with Mary Magdalene, probably South German, first half 17th century

The pendant bears a tiny half-figure depiction of the penitent Mary Magdalene with a skull and an open book. The charming depiction is accentuated by the contrast of the gold to the white, red, and blue enamel that enliven the figure and combine with the green enamel of the oval ground in its narrow gold setting.
A tiny dent to the ground, minor abrasions. 3.0 x 2.3 cm.
