A large bronze military drum/bell. South-central/South-west China. Late Eastern Zhou/early Western Han dynasty, 3rd century BC

Of nearly elliptical cross section, the body swells gradually toward the top and ends in a flaring everted lip, on top of the drum a figure of a tiger, the top with two fishes in linear relief. An inscription to the inside. Greenish patina with brown spots. Restoration to the body.
