An early Gothic one-handled mortar

Cast bronze with golden brown patina. Of tapering form with three short ribs terminating in flat spandrel feet, flaring rim. One angular handle of octagonal section. A small dent to the rim, the lower section slightly rounded due to usage and with one crack. H 17.3, D 15.8 cm. Weight c. 3 kg. Includes a later pestle.
Southern Germany, 14th century.
