A Gothic single-handled mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with chocolate brown patina and remnants of polychromy. Of tapering form resting on five semi-circular bracket feet from which issue long angular ribs. The flaring rim slightly moulded on the inner face. With an angular, octagonally faceted handle. Minor verdigris in the spandrels, the base rounded due to use, a loss to the underside. The bases of the handles with some minor casting faults. H 16.1, D 14.5 cm, weight c. 4.8 kg.
