Louis Tuaillon

Allegorical bronze reliefs representing war and agriculture by Louis Tuaillon (1862 Berlin -1919)

Cast and patinated bronze. A master pupil of Reinhold Begas in Berlin from 1879 to 1883, Louis Tuaillon was later active in the circle of Hans von Marées. Following several stays in Rome, he later returned to in Berlin in 1903 where he remained for the rest of his career. Both pieces signed "L. TUAILLON" and with the foundry stamp "H. NOACK BERLIN" in the lower left. The works depict a chariot and an ox cart accompanied by ancient gods as allegories of war and agriculture.
Minimal wear and abrasions. Each mounted on a 10 cm deep wooden box. Each 13.5 x 49 x 1.5 cm.
