An impressive polychromed wooden mount for a wakizashi. Meiji period

In shape of a long-legged oni with an animal-like face and a single short horn, displaying scales at the belly and arms, and wearing elements of a Chinese armour and a leafy cloak around the hips. The hands hold the head and tail of a one-horned dragon, its scale-less body reminiscent of an eel coiling around the back. The chignon on top of the head functions as the handle of the inserted wakizashi blade. Mounted on a wooden stand.
Height of the entire figure 70 cm; length of the blade 38.5 cm
