A Rajasthani Jain diagram of Purushakara-Yantra. 18th/19th century

This yantra is a grand micro-macro vision of the universe. A human being (purusha) has become the entire universe. The seven ascending planes (lokas) represent the experiences of the celestial realms, the central round plane the earthly jambudvipa and the descending planes the subnormal states of consciousness. The figure is flanked by various texts. Ink and colours on textile. Mounted.
