A boxwood netsuke of tengu no tamago. Second half 18th century

With an expressive bird head and one wing, the tengu emerges from an egg. However, with a human left arm and hand under the chin, it is a very rare, perhaps unique, variation of karasu tengu combined with the Konoha version. Finely carved and engraved, the eyes inlaid with black horn, remains of a black colouring. Signed Jobun.
Width 3.5 cm
