A boxwood netsuke of tengu no tamago. Early 19th century

Hatching out of the egg, a muscular left arm and wing powerfully but also subtly carved and engraved. Tips of the wing emerge through the burst shell on the underside. Very finely carved, engraved and with some dark accents, the eyes inlaid in black horn. Inscribed Toyomasa.
