A boxwood netsuke of a standing Dutchman. 18th century

With hair down to his collar, finely engraved and with remains of dark staining. He stands in a half-length so-called frock coat with four buttons, a short, folded collar at the front and long cuffs, as well as tight legwear and flat shoes. He touches his head with his left hand and his mouth is wide open in horror. Finely carved, engraved and polished, with some remains of a black coating. Much worn and with a softly polished surface. Restored.
