An old lady in a kimono lying face down on the back of a sparrow; scissors in her right hand with which she intends to cut off the tongue of the sparrow. Depiction of the well-loved children’s story ‘Shitakiri suzume’. Finely carved, engraved and polished, feathers and folds darkly coloured. Signed Masakazu. .
