A Kyoto school ivory netsuke of a horse, by Mitsuharu. Mid-18th century

The right foreleg slightly raised, and the head lowered to attentively study the ground, the ears alert and the long tail parted at the rear. The mouth slightly open to reveal a full upper row of teeth and two canines below. Powerfully modelled with very fine details. Signed Mitsuharu in a leaf-shaped reserve.
Height 6.5 cm
