An important English lacquered cabinet

Decorated with black Japanese lacquer, gilding and red paint on softwood and oak. Replaced mirror. Engraved brass mountings and iron locks. Two-part cabinet with five drawers in the lower section and curved supports. The two-doored upper section crowned by two arched pediments, the two side compartments also under arched tops, and three giltwood flaming urns on angular pedestals. Decorated on three faces with Chinoiserie garden motifs with ships and figures. The infills of the doors with large figures holding fans, the ten drawers in the interior as richly decorated as those of the outer faces. The inner doors with restored shrinkage cracks, minor retouches. H c. 224, W 104.5, D 55.5 cm.
