Jean Luce (1895 - 1964), c. 1925 - 1930.

Jean Luce (1895 - 1964) was trained in his father's glass and ceramics studio. Influenced by Modernism, Cubism and primitive art, he found his own ceramic style early on. Respected by followers of the Modernist avant-garde, Luce worked with Jean Puiforcat, Charlotte Perriand and René Herbst, among others. His designs and ceramics were produced in Limoges, Creil and Sept-Fontaine by Villeroy & Boch. In the late 1920s / early 1930s, he created an elegant dinner service for the Manufacture Sèvres with the collaboration of Marcel Goupy, for whom he was also technical advisor.
