A Meissen porcelain tureen and platter with bird decor

Decorated with Dulong relief and finely painted on either side of the tureen, the lid, and the well of the platter with fanciful exotic birds beneath floral arbours. The rims picked out in blue, the handles entwined by blue and gold ribbons. The finial formed as a bitter orange. Blue crossed swords mark to the unglazed base, incised o, the platter with impressed no. 54. H 23.5, W 29.5 cm, W platter 41.5 cm.

It can be assumed that the tureen and platter were produced simultaneously to the dinner service made for the Prussian minister Wilhelm Finck von Finckenstein. However, his service was decorated with Continental birds, flowers and fruit.
