A cast iron bowl with tritons and hippocampi

Burnished cast iron. Pierced bowl on a baluster-form shaft with acanthus relief resting on three paw feet. Decorated with mythological motifs in four elliptical reserves amid arabesques surrounding a central rosette. An old casting crack to the edge. An old casting crack to the edge. H 19, W 28.5 cm.
Prussian iron foundry, 1st half 19th C., the design attributed to Karl Friedrich Schinkel.
