A dated Hachmann mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with honey coloured patina. The display side decorated with a vacant coat-of-arms supported by winged demi-figures. With two wide banderoles below the rim and above the base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: “int iaer ons heren m vc lxxii” and “myn hape steit allein in godt”. The handles formed as double-headed dragons. Minor dents to the inner and outer surfaces. H 13.8, D 14.8 cm, weight c. 4.1 kg. Includes a corresponding bronze pestle. L 23 cm.
