Literature

Cf. cat. Sammlung Hoffmeister, vol. I, Hamburg 1999, no. 193, an identical plate with a great tit. Dieter Hoffmeister lists a total of 40 plates with this decoration discovered by him since 1979. The service was supposedly gifted to the American William Randolph Hearst (1863 – 1951) by the German government in the 1930s and subsequently passed into the ownership of Paula de Koenigsberg in Buenos Aires.
