Henriette Wolfskeel von Reichenberg, attributed to

The Palace and Park in Weimar

Watercolour on paper. 39 x 52 cm.
Dated lower left: Weimar 1805, signed lower right: Henriette .....

The daughter of the Württemberg court war president and niece of the chancellor of the Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach Carl Albrecht Wolfskeel von Reichenberg, Henriette Wolfskeel von Reichenberg came to the court in Weimar at the age of 17 as a lady-in-waiting to Duchess Anna Amalia, where she quickly found her way into courtly and learned society. Goethe called her "Kehlchen" and dedicated the poem "Magisches Netz" to her. In 1803 she married Karl Wilhelm Freiherr von Fritsch, who soon became one of Weimar's most important statesmen in the first half of the 19th century. Henriette was an amateur painter and this view of Weimar Castle signed with her first name could well be one of her works.
