South German Mid-17th century

A mid-17th century South German carved ivory Corpus Christi

Carved in the round. A depiction of Christ crucified with three nails and His arms starkly upraised. The detailed depiction of his anatomy and the perizonium, held in place with a cord, mark this as an especially finely carved work.
Very minor staining, otherwise in pristine condition. Mounted on a wooden stand and back panel. Height 50 cm.
